My Inflammation - Part 2
First day back to school for many and now the routines begin. The days of not remembering what day of the week has gone for another year.
The third week of January is here, and I am ready to reflect on how my body has held up over the holiday season.
Just before Christmas I decided to start having cold showers and my plan is to keep this going even in the winter months if possible. Wim Hof has been a keen advocate for cold therapy with using breathwork and ice baths to help with inflammation and so much more. I have done this process and I felt that I needed something that I could put into my normal routine so that’s why I went the cold shower option. Please do your own research and check with your doctor before you embark on this challenge if it calls you.
Christmas and New Year’s was such a special time for me with having our new home full of chatter, laughs and sharing. Plus being able to witness my granddaughter’s first Christmas which filled me with so much pride. Feeling blessed and full of gratitude for this opportunity. With having the fridges full of festive food was quite testing for me and I am pleased to report that I did so much better than previous times.
Being kind to myself is the number one key thing for me. When I take the pressure off it makes a huge difference. Another key factor is that I really felt safe in myself with the people who surrounded me, and I feel that was a huge thing to recognize.
I am very pleased to report that I did not have any soft drinks or alcohol. This is such a wonderful feeling to know that I have moved on from having the urge. It is such a great feeling. My desire is to always drink out of glass bottles. You can research why drinking out of glass is better than plastic if you like. My favourite drink is Lemon and Lime muddled in a glass of Mineral water. Yummo!
Every day and every mouthful I plan to be in the now with doing the best I can at that time. My goal for now and the future is to say no to sugar, chocolate, and carbs often. Nourishing my body with organic wholefoods when possible. Life does send me curve balls at times, and I will do my upmost best in that moment.
My next challenge is to do a 72-hour water fast on the long weekend at the end of January. As a practice I completed a 40-hour water fast last weekend to prepare my body and mind. After 12 hours my body was showing flows of hunger, and I was very happy when it finally went to sleep 10 hours later. Initially I was planning on doing a 36-hour water fast but then I decided I wanted some sauerkraut to prepare my stomach with some healthy bacteria. So, by the time I did my market and supermarket shop a few extra hours had passed. If you are interested in learning the health benefits of water fast, the information is all there for you out on the big world wide web.
Please watch out for the February Blog where I will share all about my experience.
